Getting Ready!

Welcome to our Gap Year for grown-ups (using the term looimg_1829sely!) – AKA: 12 months of adventure in 2017!

As many of you already know, Lee and I were inspired to take a Gap Year by our daughter, Abby, who took a Gap Year between high school and college five years ago – as well as her subsequent decision to take a semester off in 2015 to hike the Appalachian Trail!  We concluded that it was well past time for letting the kids have all the fun, and decided to leave our jobs at the end of 2016 to take a year off to step back, reflect, and work through our bucket list of great places to explore  around the globe. We’re very fortunate to enjoy good health  with no major physical limitations, and decided it was high time to do those physical adventures – while we still can!

While the decision to leave our current jobs was admittedly a difficult one, the time seemed right:  after working our way through college tuition for the past 7 years, both Sam & Abby are now through college, and we’re fortunate to have this time in our lives to experience a near-giddy level of relative freedom.  We both will definitely be going back to work at some type of job in 2018 (no, this is not retirement – wish it was!), but we realized this is a unique time in our lives when we can take a pause to reflect on where we’ve been and what we want to do in our next phase of life, while having a few adventures along the way.

We feel incredibly grateful for this opportunity, and hope we can share some of it with you.  Stay tuned!
